Agent Framework 1.23: Function Middleware Can Finally Swap the Tool It Is Calling

Microsoft Agent Framework .NET 1.23.0 honors assignments to FunctionInvocationContext.Function, so middleware can redirect a tool call to a different AIFunction. A new WrapWithPendingMiddleware helper keeps the rest of the chain in the loop.

EF.Parameter vs EF.Constant in EF Core 11 queries

EF.Constant inlines a captured value as a SQL literal, EF.Parameter turns a literal into a SQL parameter. Keep EF Core's defaults, use EF.Parameter to stop dynamically built expression trees from recompiling on every call, and use EF.Constant only for a value with a handful of distinct values whose data is skewed enough to need its own plan.

Volatile.Read vs Volatile.ReadBarrier in .NET 10

Volatile.Read is an acquire load of one location. Volatile.ReadBarrier, new in .NET 10, is a fence that gives every earlier read acquire semantics. Use Volatile.Read for flags and published references, and ReadBarrier when you need a batch of plain or non-atomic reads to complete before the next memory access, as in a seqlock.

2026-10-01 errors dotnet testing

Fix: dotnet test exits with code 5 and "Zero tests ran" on Microsoft.Testing.Platform

Exit code 5 means MTP rejected a command-line option, not that tests are missing. Run the test exe directly to see the real error, then add the extension package or route the option per project.

.NET MAUI 10.0.110 fixes six memory leaks found by an agentic leak hunter

MAUI 10.0.110 ships six leak fixes for BackButtonBehavior, SwipeItemView, ListView.RefreshCommand, IndicatorView, GeometryGroup and TableView. Most were filed and patched by gh-aw workflows, and they matter most if you use RelayCommand from CommunityToolkit.Mvvm.

Aspire 13.6 Dashboard Keeps Your Last Ten Runs in SQLite

Aspire 13.6.0 makes the dashboard persistent: resource snapshots and telemetry go into a SQLite database, the AppHost keeps up to ten runs per application, and completed runs stay browsable read-only. Here is how the Run, Resume, and None modes work and how to configure the standalone dashboard.

Fix: Android status bar icons become unreadable after enabling UseMaterial3 in .NET MAUI 10

MAUI 10.0.100 picks status bar icon colors from colorPrimary, which is the opposite brightness of the Material 3 surface, so you get white on white or black on black. Update Microsoft.Maui.Controls to 10.0.101 or later, or reset AppearanceLightStatusBars in MainActivity.

Fix: EF Core `Contains` on a static readonly `IList<T>` or `ISet<T>` could not be translated

EF Core 8, 9 and 10 fail to translate Contains when the list is a static readonly field typed as IList, ICollection, ISet or IReadOnlySet. Call Enumerable.Contains explicitly, or upgrade to EF Core 11.

Fix: .NET MAUI Entry with Keyboard.Numeric shows a small numpad, then the full keyboard, on iPadOS 26

On iPadOS 26, MAUI maps Keyboard.Numeric to UIKeyboardType.DecimalPad, which now opens as a floating mini numpad. Append a mapper that switches iPad to NumbersAndPunctuation and filter input yourself.

Fix: MAUIR0001 MissingMethodException in .NET MAUI Resizetizer on an SVG with <filter> or <text>

MAUI 10.0.101 and 10.0.110 Resizetizer ship mismatched System.Memory references, so SVGs with filters or text fail. Pin Resizetizer 10.0.100 or strip the filter and text.
